Tom Rasely's “Gallery Suite” is a present-day “Pictures at an Exhibition” for Solo Guitar, Rhythm Section, and Full Orchestra. The original sixteen songs were tone paintings based on famous artworks, from which the six segments of this Suite originate. Wm. Spencer-Pierce partnered with the composer to fashion this Orchestral treatment. First conceived as Guitar selections, this arrangement develops themes from Tom Rasely’s “Gallery” collection. It’s not quite a concerto grosso, but it does feature a strong Guitar soloist and an independent Rhythm Section accompanied by the Orchestra. The Soloist and Rhythm Section are encouraged to bring their own "attitudes" to the piece. A really different work that will engage audiences and performers alike. Duration 10 minutes. Grade 4+ Med. Difficult.
